Andrew Nelson is a painter working between London and his birthplace of Baltimore. His work draws on landscape, figuration, and architecture to render spaces which explore mood and psychological states of unknowing. These atmospheric paintings interchangeably employ flat passages, glowing colors, and subtleties of light to evoke a sense of mystery. A painter with a background in both realism and in design, Andrew works from his photography and imagination to arrive at visual compositions which take inspiration from expressionism, surrealism, naïve art, and nature.

Andrew is a Yale undergraduate alumnus (Art Major B.A, 2013)  and began painting professionally in the Fall of 2021.
